![]() ![]() Outlook - They finally have their mojo back so to speak after last weekend's efforts but they will have a very tough time getting past Milwaukee Hamilton if that's the matchup in the semi-finals. Arrowhead has inconsistent perimeter shooting and if they are not hitting shots from the outside they become a one dimensional team with Mills which can be a problem in close games down the stretch. The depth and athleticism of those two teams could cause problems for Arrowhead. Athletically, Arrowhead is solid but they will have difficulty competing with the likes of Milwaukee Hamilton or Madison Memorial should they meet up. Two things that can hurt this team are teams with strong low post play and teams who can spread the floor and stroke the jump shot. Why they won't win - Toughness, athleticism, and perimeter shooting. If role players step up big and Mills delivers his best, Arrowhead will be a very tough out. Fox is an underrated lead guard and his ability to make plays and control the tempo of games is critical for Arrowhead this weekend. Mills must be at his absolute best both offensively and defensively if Arrowhead is going to capture the state chip. He has the ability to collect rebounds and can score the basektball with an offensive package that includes solid range and the ability to step away from the paint and knock down jump shots. Keys to Victory - Size is always key and Arrowhead presents one of the biggest offensive and defensive weapons in the paint in Mills. C Ben Mills (Committed to Boise State), 6-0 Sr. Don't see them matching up with Memorial, Hamilton, Marquette, or Arrowhead. Should Mader continue to elevate his play, this team can be very dangerous and a semi-final trip or perhaps a state final trip if they land Neenah in the semi-finals would be a possibliity. Outlook - Really like the fact that this team has nothing to lose and Mader is ready to be one of the biggest stories in the 2012 class over the next 6-12 months. They lack a true interior post presence offensively and that could be problematic depending on who that match up again should they continue to advance. That youth and inexperience could be a key factor down the stretch of games. This is a young group of players who haven't been to this stage before. Why they won't win - Youth, inexperience, and size. They have no pressure on them as this team wasn't expected to be here until next year so that will be huge against favored opponents should they advance deeper into the tournament. Efficient offense and big play from Coenen is a must as well. His size, length, and versatility will not only cause matchup problems for opposing teams but also bring additional balance to the lineup offensively. 13 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists, 5 blocks). For this team to win Mader has to deliver consistent performances like he did in the Sectional Semi-Finals (i.e. Keys to Victory - A surprise entry in Madison, East rode the back of a last second trey ball by Coenen to outlast a heavily favored De Pere squad in the Sectional Finals. Mach has the potential to carry the team on his back but only so far.Īppleton East Patriots - Appleton, Wisconsin Outlook - Either team can win the game against East but chances are slim that they'll get past what's expected to be Madison Memorial in the semi-finals. Rebounding and interior play is virtually non-existent so teams with size, rebounding and a solid interior post presence may present problems. Mach is the catalyst so needless to say teams will focus their defensive efforts on him which means other guys may have to step up big for Antigo to advance and on paper that doesn't appear possible. Why they won't win - Offensive firepower and size. A big night by Sailer and LIttlejohn combined with a typical one by Mach and Cameron could see Antigo drop an upset should they advance deep into the tournament. At 6-9 Sailer has some nice size and could prove to be a key factor in games given his size and potential impact on both ends. ![]() Mach will need to be at his best along with Cameron, Sailer and a cast of other role players for the Red Robins to be successful. ![]() They can score with the best of them as Mach is one of the best in the state at close to 30 PPG but defensively they are holding teams to 40 PPG. G Jordan Mach (Committed to UW-Parkside), 6-3 Sr. ![]() After a furious past couple of weeks of action, it all comes down to the next three days. The 2010 WIAA Boys state basketball tournament wraps up this weekend in Madison, Wisconsin as a host of teams including Sam Mader and Appleton East are set to battle for state championships inside the Kohl Center. ![]()
